樂學院研究生院，同年赴美
哥倫比亞大學攻讀博士。
1988年在美國舉辦了個人音
樂會。1997年為香港回歸紀
念活動所作的《天，地，人》震動了中國樂壇，之后憑《臥虎藏龍》獲第73界奧斯卡最佳原創音樂獎，并獲第44屆格萊美音樂獎四項提名。2008年譚盾應邀擔任北京奧運會音樂策劃。
