What are the three biggest killers in the world at present?
More than 30 million people around the world have died of AIDS-related diseases. In 2017, about 1million men, women and children died of AIDS-related causes. 36 million people around the world are now living with HIV. Now we know from bitter experience that HIV is the cause of AIDS and that it can devastate families, communities and whole countries.
What do HIV and AIDS stand for?
HIV is the short form for Human Immunodeficiency Virus.
AIDS stand for Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome.
What is the difference between HIV and AIDS?
HIV is a virus that can live in the body for some time – occasionally many years – without symptoms being present. Even though they may not be showing symptoms, a person with HIV can infect others.
AIDS is the stage of the disease when the person’s immune system is weakened to such a degree that he / she develops many different diseases which are eventually fatal.

How does HIV affect people’s health?
HIV virus weakens a person’s immune system and eventually it damages the immune system so much that the body can no longer fight against disease.
AIDS has killed above 25 million people between 1981 and 2007. About 33.2 million people universal live with HIV/AIDS as of 2007. It has become the most critical epidemic (流行病) in the recorded history.
The World Aids day is celebrated on 1st December every year. It is dedicated to elevate the awareness of AIDS pandemic sources by spreading of HIV infectivity.
The World AIDS Day was primary conceived in August 1987.
