Did you sing a song at the party?用到實意動詞的一般疑問句，須使用 did 提問，did 是助動詞do的過去式，和 do 一樣沒有實際動作含義，卻有很重要的時間含義。 助動詞的基本功能，就是幫助主動詞完成時間和數的表達。簡單的說：do用于現在、非單三；does 用于現在、單三；did 用于過去各種數。
Did you sing a Chinese song or an English song?An English song.使用選擇疑問句提問，是希望對方選其中一個選項來回答，其語調前升后降，這種非上揚的語調，也表明這種句子不是期待你肯定或者否定回答，所以平時讀書，注意語調，它是語感養成的重要因素。
Did you play the piano?No, I didn't. But Maria did.紅色的did是個代動詞，代替 played，使用did是為避免說話時重復。
What did Sally do?
She danced.過去時的特殊疑問句，須使用助動詞 did(主語是who的句子除外)，回答也自然要用過去時，否則就會答非所問，違反對話的“合作原則”。在給一組對話，注意問答的動詞使用。-Where did you go yesterday?-I went to the beach.-How did you go there?-I went by car.-Who drove the car?-My dad did.-When did you come back?-We got home at 5 P.M.
What about Tom?What did Tom do ? 的簡略問法。
He performed some magic tricks. He likes magic tricks very much.第一句是生日聚會上的事，故用過去時，次句為平時的描述，使用一般現在時。 Did Kangkang enjoy himself?enjoy himself 就是玩得開心，這句話可以替換為：Did Kangkang have a good time?
